Suvisoitto Festival Brings Musical Magic to Porvoo on June 27-30, 2024

The annual Suvisoitto Festival by Avanti! Chamber Orchestra starts with a vibrant Opening Fanfare at Porvoo Town Hall Square on Thursday, June 27, at 12:00 PM, and continues through Sunday, June 30, 2024. This year’s festival, curated by composer and conductor Ondřej Adámek, promises a diverse and culturally rich program. The event features performances by new-generation Finnish conductors Aliisa Neige Barrière and Kristian Sallinen, along with soloists such as violinist Tami Pohjola and sopranos Landy Andriamboavonjya and Shigeko Hata.

Festival highlights include an immersive percussion concert at Avanti-Club and a performance by the Avanti Quartet at Porvoo Cathedral on Friday. Saturday’s program offers a bilingual family concert with guitarist Petri Kumela and poet Laura Ruohonen, accompanied by Erika Kallasmaa’s illustrations. The evening features tango and jazz performances by Maria Ylipää and friends with Avanti’s string ensemble, as well as the Adele Sauros Quartet featuring Max Zenger at Avanti-Club.

The festival concludes on Sunday with a composition masterclass concert and the Suvisoitto closing concert at the Art Factory.
